Medical Assistant – Contract

Location: Berea, KY 40403
Duration: 5 Weeks – Possible Extension 
Work Setting: Outpatient / Onsite

Pay Rate: $24/hour

• Monday: 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM
• Tuesday: 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM
• Wednesday: 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM
• Thursday: 9:00 AM – 6:00 PM
• Friday: 8:00 AM – 12:00 PM

Position Summary

We are seeking a dependable and patient-focused Medical Assistant (MA) to support both front-office and back-office operations in a fast-paced outpatient healthcare environment.

The Medical Assistant will assist with patient care, administrative responsibilities, and clinical procedures while maintaining professional communication and effective teamwork with patients, providers, and clinical staff.

The ideal candidate will have strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively in a collaborative environment serving patients ages 2 and older.

Key Responsibilities

• Greet, check in, room, and prepare patients for provider visits in a professional and courteous manner.
• Schedule patient appointments and assist with patient communications.
• Answer and appropriately direct incoming telephone calls.
• Obtain and accurately document patient vital signs and medical information.
• Perform phlebotomy and venipuncture procedures.
• Assist with laboratory procedures and specimen collection.
• Administer vaccines according to established protocols.
• Perform Point-of-Care Testing (POCT) as required.
• Assist with EKG testing when needed.
• Maintain accurate patient documentation in Electronic Medical Records (EMR) systems.
• Support front-office operations, including patient fee collection.
• Collaborate with providers and healthcare staff to maintain efficient clinic workflow.
• Maintain patient confidentiality and follow applicable healthcare privacy requirements.
• Follow clinic policies, procedures, safety standards, and infection-control protocols.
• Provide additional clinical and administrative support as needed.

Required Qualifications

• Minimum 1 year of Medical Assistant experience required; externship experience does not count toward the required experience.
• Hands-on experience with phlebotomy/venipuncture required.
• Recent experience with:
  • Patient scheduling
  • Patient rooming
  • Recording vital signs
• Strong computer skills.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
• Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented clinical environment.
• Strong attention to detail and professionalism.

Preferred Qualifications

• Medical Assistant Certification preferred.
• Occupational Health experience strongly preferred.
• Experience with Athena EMR preferred.
• Previous EKG testing experience preferred.
• Recent Point-of-Care Testing (POCT) experience preferred.
• Current BLS or CPR certification preferred.
