Position Overview
We are seeking a Patient Care Associate (PCA) to provide direct patient care and clinical support to adults in an inpatient psychiatric setting.
Required Qualifications
High School Diploma/GED with 2 years of relevant experience, or an Associate Degree in Psychology, Human Services, Mental Health, or a related field.
Minimum 2 years of full-time direct care experience in behavioral/psychiatric health, nursing support, mental health counseling, law enforcement, or group dynamics.
Patient Care Associate (PCA) Certificate required.
Crisis Prevention & Intervention (CPI) Certification required.
BLS or HeartSaver Certification required.
Venipuncture/phlebotomy and EKG competency required.
Responsibilities
Provide direct patient care, including vital signs, venipuncture, EKGs, specimen collection, and assistance with activities of daily living.
Assist with patient admissions, orientation, belongings searches, contraband checks, and securing valuables.
Use CPI techniques to support behavioral de-escalation and crisis management.
Assist clinical staff with seclusion monitoring, safety restraints, and emergency psychiatric protocols according to policy.
Safely escort patients to diagnostic imaging, clinics, and other off-unit appointments.
Support individualized care plans, therapeutic activities, patient safety rounds, and accurate documentation.
