Senior Accountant

Location: Fairfax, VA 22035
Schedule: Hybrid – Combination of Onsite & Remote
Duration: 6 Months
Extension: Possible based on business needs

Pay Rate: $30/hour

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Senior Accountant to support financial operations and accounting activities. This position will focus on revenue analysis, financial reconciliations, financial reporting, budgeting, internal controls, accounts receivable, and procurement support.

The ideal candidate will have strong accounting and financial analysis experience and be comfortable working with large volumes of financial data, multiple accounting systems, and cross-functional teams.

Key Responsibilities

• Analyze revenue data and develop short-term and long-term revenue projections.
• Perform complex financial reconciliations involving deposit and escrow accounts, cash receipts, and accounts receivable.
• Reconcile financial information across multiple accounting and financial systems.
• Prepare accurate financial reports for management and other stakeholders.
• Research and analyze revenue management processes, fee schedules, and account classifications.
• Identify financial discrepancies and recommend improvements to internal controls and accounting processes.
• Assist with annual budget preparation and quarterly revenue reviews.
• Support billing and accounts receivable activities, including refunds and deposit processing.
• Collaborate with senior management on budget development, financial planning, and performance tracking.
• Assist with procurement activities, including preparation of scopes of work, specifications, timelines, and purchase orders.
• Maintain accurate financial records and supporting documentation.
• Ensure compliance with established accounting policies, financial procedures, and internal controls.
• Support additional accounting and financial analysis activities as assigned.

Required Qualifications

• 5–7 years of progressively responsible accounting or financial analysis experience.
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
• Strong financial analysis and financial reporting skills.
• Experience with revenue analysis and financial forecasting/projections.
• Demonstrated experience performing complex financial reconciliations.
• Ability to analyze and reconcile financial information across multiple systems.
• Knowledge of internal controls and financial process improvement.
• Strong Microsoft Excel and data-analysis skills.
• Experience with an enterprise financial system such as SAP or a similar ERP platform.
• Excellent organizational, analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities, work independently, and meet established deadlines.
