JOB TITLE: Navigation and Homepage Redesign Systems Integration Specialist

JOB OVERVIEW

Location: New York City, NY (100% onsite from day one)
Interview process: Virtual screening, followed by an onsite interview

JOB SUMMARY: This role is for a hands-on web systems integration specialist to help implement a redesigned navigation and homepage experience for a public-facing government services website. The project addresses usability problems that occur when residents move between the main website and related properties. It aims to make the service’s core functions clearer and reduce duplicated content across the two sites.

The specialist builds and tests an optimized header and footer in Adobe Experience Manager (AEM), integrates the new navigation into the existing website built on Microsoft Dynamics, removes the legacy side navigation, and updates interior-page heading and account-link styling and placement to work with the new header. Creative work and requirements are provided, so this role focuses on implementation, integration, quality and reliable delivery.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Implementation and Integration

  • Implement an optimized site header and footer in AEM, following the provided creative assets, designs and requirements.
  • Integrate the new AEM-based navigation into the existing website running on Microsoft Dynamics.
  • Remove the existing side navigation once the new top navigation addresses the identified navigation gaps.
  • Update the styling and placement of headings and account links across interior pages to align with the new header navigation.
  • Implement homepage updates that clarify the core functions of the service and reduce redundant content shared with the main website.

Testing and Quality

  • Test navigation, page rendering, links, account entry points, responsive behavior and cross-page consistency.
  • Document and resolve defects.

Coordination and Handoff

  • Coordinate with stakeholders, designers, content owners, developers, QA and platform teams to clarify requirements and manage integration dependencies.
  • Support validation and handoff by documenting implementation decisions, test outcomes, known issues and operational considerations.

MANDATORY / CORE SKILLS

  • Adobe Experience Manager (AEM): hands-on experience implementing or configuring website components, templates, navigation, headers and footers, and content structures.
  • Microsoft Dynamics website integration: practical experience integrating front-end or site components with a Microsoft Dynamics-based web property, or a comparable enterprise CMS/CRM-backed site.
  • Web implementation: strong HTML, CSS, JavaScript, responsive design and browser debugging skills, sufficient to implement and troubleshoot site-wide navigation and homepage changes.
  • Systems integration: ability to work across platforms, identify integration dependencies, troubleshoot rendering or behavior differences, and coordinate changes without breaking existing site functionality.
  • Quality assurance: experience preparing and executing functional, regression, cross-browser, responsive and link/navigation tests, recording defects and verifying fixes.
  • Information architecture and navigation: understanding of global navigation, page hierarchy, wayfinding, labels, user journeys and consistent site-wide patterns.
  • Requirements execution: ability to translate supplied designs and requirements into implementable work, raise ambiguities early and track work through acceptance.

SOFT SKILLS

  • Clear communication with technical and non-technical stakeholders, including public-sector client teams.
  • Attention to detail, since navigation, headings, account links and shared components affect many pages and need consistent treatment.
  • Structured problem-solving and root-cause analysis across CMS, integration and browser layers.
  • Collaborative delivery: able to work from creative direction supplied by others and partner closely with designers, content teams, QA and platform owners.
  • Resident-first mindset: helping residents quickly understand what the service does and find the right information or service.
  • Pragmatic prioritization, documentation and follow-through within a defined project timeline.

GOOD-TO-HAVE SKILLS

  • Experience with government, municipal, public-sector or other high-traffic public-service websites.
  • Accessibility implementation and testing knowledge, including WCAG concepts, keyboard navigation, focus order, semantic markup and screen-reader checks (recommended, but not expressly required in the original posting).
  • SEO and content governance awareness, especially avoiding duplicated content and maintaining clear page ownership.
  • Experience with analytics, usability findings or search/navigation metrics to help validate whether navigation changes improve findability.
  • Automated testing tools, visual regression testing, CI/CD, version control and release and change-management practices.
  • Experience with design systems, reusable components, responsive breakpoints and shared headers and footers across multiple properties.
