Pay Rate

• Travel Candidates: $59–$62/hour, depending on experience.

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Registered Nurse (RN) specializing in Labor and Delivery (L&D) for a 13-week travel contract. The ideal candidate will have strong obstetric nursing experience and the clinical skills necessary to provide comprehensive care to pregnant patients, women in labor, and postpartum patients.

Candidates must be proficient in fetal monitoring, labor management, Cesarean section support, postpartum recovery, and newborn care. Experience with EPIC electronic medical records is required.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive nursing care to pregnant patients across all gestational ages and postpartum patients up to six weeks after delivery.
• Assist with vaginal deliveries and circulate during Cesarean section procedures.
• Provide post-Cesarean recovery care and monitor maternal and newborn conditions.
• Administer and monitor medications and therapies, including Magnesium Sulfate, Pitocin (oxytocin), and Terbutaline.
• Perform maternal assessments and monitor fetal heart rates and uterine contractions.
• Assess and document newborn APGAR scores.
• Provide newborn care, including identification and security banding and thermoregulation.
• Perform Foley catheter insertion and care, fundal assessments, lochia monitoring, and perineal care.
• Recognize and respond appropriately to postpartum hemorrhage, pregnancy-induced hypertension, and other obstetric complications.
• Perform non-stress tests (NSTs) and utilize external fetal monitoring (EFM).
• Assist with intrauterine pressure catheter (IUPC) placement and calibration.
• Maintain accurate patient records and document nursing care using the EPIC electronic medical records system.
• Float to other units within the nurse's scope of practice and clinical competency as required.
• Collaborate with physicians and multidisciplinary healthcare professionals to ensure safe, high-quality maternal and newborn care.
• Follow established clinical protocols, infection prevention procedures, and patient safety standards.

Required Qualifications & Experience

• Demonstrated clinical experience in Labor and Delivery nursing.
• Experience with vaginal deliveries, Cesarean sections, and postpartum recovery.
• Proficiency in fetal monitoring, maternal assessments, newborn care, and obstetric medication administration.
• Experience managing postpartum hemorrhage, pregnancy-induced hypertension, and related obstetric complications.
• Previous experience using the EPIC electronic medical records system.
• Ability to float to other units within the nurse's clinical skill set and scope of practice.
• Availability to work every other weekend and every other holiday, if needed.

Required Certifications & Licensure

• Active New York State Registered Nurse (RN) license. Pending licenses are not accepted.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) or Obstetric ACLS (OB-ACLS) certification.
• Electronic Fetal Monitoring (EFM) certification.
• Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification.
