Pay Rate: $2,850–$2,900 per Week

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Registered Nurse (RN) specializing in Labor & Delivery (L&D) for a 13-week travel contract in Brooklyn, NY. The ideal candidate will provide comprehensive nursing care to patients throughout labor, delivery, and the immediate postpartum period.

The RN will monitor maternal and fetal health, assist with deliveries, respond to obstetric emergencies, and provide compassionate support to patients and their families throughout the childbirth process.

Key Responsibilities

• Monitor maternal vital signs, fetal heart rates, and uterine contractions throughout labor and delivery.
• Assess patient conditions and implement appropriate nursing interventions based on clinical findings.
• Assist physicians and midwives during labor, vaginal deliveries, and cesarean sections as needed.
• Perform continuous fetal monitoring and promptly report signs of fetal distress.
• Administer prescribed medications, IV fluids, and other treatments in accordance with physician orders and facility protocols.
• Provide pain management support and monitor patients receiving epidural anesthesia.
• Recognize and respond promptly to obstetric emergencies, including postpartum hemorrhage, eclampsia, and fetal distress.
• Provide immediate postpartum care, monitor maternal recovery, and identify potential complications.
• Assist with initial newborn assessments and coordinate care with the neonatal team when necessary.
• Educate patients and families about labor progression, delivery procedures, breastfeeding, and postpartum care.
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation of patient assessments, interventions, medications, and outcomes.
• Collaborate with physicians, midwives, anesthesiologists, and other healthcare professionals to ensure quality patient care.
• Follow infection control procedures, patient safety standards, and hospital policies.
• Provide emotional support to patients and their families throughout the childbirth experience.
• Participate in shift handoffs and communicate relevant patient updates to incoming nursing staff.

Required Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the State of New York.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Current Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification.
• Previous Labor & Delivery nursing experience preferred.
• Strong clinical assessment, communication, and critical-thinking skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced hospital environment.
• Willingness to work scheduled night shifts and respond to obstetric emergencies as required.
