Medical Assistant (MA)

Location: St. Petersburg, FL 33716
Shift: Day Shift
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–5:00 PM
Hours: 45 Hours/Week

Pay Rate: $24/hour

Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced and dependable Medical Assistant (MA) to provide both front-office and back-office support in a clinical healthcare setting.

The ideal candidate will be comfortable working independently, demonstrate strong patient-care skills, and have recent experience with Athena EMR. The Medical Assistant will support daily clinic operations, including patient rooming, vital signs, appointment scheduling, documentation, and phlebotomy/blood draws.

Key Responsibilities

  • Greet, check in, and room patients in a professional and courteous manner.
  • Obtain and accurately document patient vital signs.
  • Perform venipuncture and blood draws safely and confidently.
  • Support both front-office and back-office clinical operations.
  • Schedule patient appointments and assist with telephone calls and patient inquiries.
  • Enter, update, and maintain accurate patient information in Athena EMR.
  • Assist providers with patient care, examinations, and clinical procedures as needed.
  • Perform EKGs and point-of-care testing when applicable.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, safe, and patient-focused clinical environment.
  • Communicate effectively with patients, providers, and other clinical staff.
  • Maintain patient confidentiality and accurate clinical documentation.
  • Follow clinic policies, safety procedures, infection-control practices, and applicable standards of care.
  • Perform other Medical Assistant duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • Previous Medical Assistant experience required.
  • Strong phlebotomy, venipuncture, and blood-drawing skills required.
  • Recent hands-on experience with Athena EMR required.
  • Experience with both front-office and back-office medical assisting preferred.
  • Experience with patient rooming and obtaining vital signs.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent organizational and documentation skills.
  • Ability to work independently and effectively in a fast-paced clinical environment.
  • Current BLS/CPR certification preferred or required as applicable.
