Job Title: Government Business Development Executive – IT Services
Location: NJ/NY or Remote
Employment Type: Full-Time

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Government Business Development Executive to develop and strengthen relationships with government agencies and turn our existing contract awards into active business opportunities.

This is a post-award business development and relationship-building role focused on connecting with government technology leaders and hiring managers, understanding upcoming needs, generating opportunities, and developing recurring business through our existing contract vehicles.

Key Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain relationships with CIOs, CTOs, IT Directors, Program Managers, Project Managers, Hiring Managers, and other government technology stakeholders.
  • Activate and grow existing State and Local Government technology contracts.
  • Identify upcoming technology initiatives, projects, workforce needs, and potential requirements.
  • Develop relationships within agencies, departments, divisions, and programs that can utilize our contract vehicles.
  • Educate government stakeholders on our contract vehicles, capabilities, services, and available resources.
  • Understand agency purchasing processes, labor categories, contract requirements, and procedures for obtaining resources.
  • Identify opportunities for technology services, professional services, staff augmentation, and project-based resources within the scope of existing contracts.
  • Maintain regular communication with key government contacts and develop account plans.
  • Coordinate with internal Account Management, Delivery, and Recruiting teams to respond to requirements.
  • Track contract activity, relationships, opportunities, requirements, submissions, interviews, placements, and revenue in the CRM.
  • Identify opportunities to expand relationships into additional departments, agencies, or eligible government organizations.

Requirements

  • 1+ years of experience in government technology services, public-sector business development, professional services, staffing, or staff augmentation.
  • Demonstrated experience developing relationships with State and/or Local Government organizations.
  • Understanding of government procurement, contract vehicles, and public-sector purchasing processes.
  • Strong network-building and relationship-management skills.
  • Proven ability to turn relationships into business opportunities and revenue.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, networking, and follow-up skills.
  • Ability to work independently while coordinating effectively with internal teams.
  • Experience using CRM systems to manage relationships and opportunities.

Preferred Experience

  • State IT contracts and cooperative purchasing vehicles.
  • State and Local Government technology organizations.
  • IT staff augmentation or professional services contracts.
  • Government vendor relationship development.
  • Experience working with government agencies, higher education, public-sector healthcare, or other eligible government organizations.

Success in This Role

This is not primarily a proposal-writing or contract-capture position. The focus is on activating awarded contracts and developing the relationships needed to generate business.

Contract Award → Government Relationships → Agency Needs → Requirements → Opportunities → Engagements → Recurring Revenue

The successful candidate will be measured by meaningful government relationships, active accounts, requirements generated, opportunities developed, engagements, and revenue—not simply calls or emails.
