Schedule

• Evening Shift: 4:00 PM – 12:00 AM
• 8 hours per day
• 40 hours per week
• 5 days per week
• Rotating schedule
• Every 3rd weekend off
• No overtime

Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) / Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) III to provide nursing care and clinical support within a residential healthcare setting serving individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD).

The LVN/LPN will be responsible for administering medications and treatments, performing nursing procedures, monitoring individuals' health conditions, responding to emergencies, and maintaining accurate medical records. Experience working with individuals with IDD and psychiatric or behavioral health needs is preferred.

Key Responsibilities

• Administer medications and treatments through appropriate routes, including oral, rectal, internal, and injectable methods.
• Perform technical nursing procedures in accordance with facility policies and applicable state regulations after demonstrating competency.
• Monitor individuals receiving treatments or undergoing medical procedures.
• Document and report pertinent observations and changes in condition.
• Communicate relevant clinical information to healthcare team members verbally and in writing.
• Respond appropriately to emergency situations and help ensure the safety and well-being of individuals.
• Follow established safety, infection control, and healthcare procedures.
• Collect specimens for laboratory examination and perform appropriate screening tests following competency verification.
• Provide health education to individuals based on identified health goals.
• Assist staff with turning and repositioning individuals when necessary for treatment or care.
• Ensure required medical supplies and equipment are available.
• Maintain accurate individual medical records in the Electronic Health Record (EHR) or paper chart.
• Attend work consistently and comply with assigned shifts and rotating schedules.
• Perform other nursing and related duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

Licensure & Certifications

• Active Texas LVN license or a license from a state participating in the Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC).
• Current American Heart Association (AHA) CPR certification.

Experience & Skills

• Experience working with individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) preferred.
• Previous psychiatric or behavioral health experience preferred.
• Computer and Electronic Health Record (EHR) experience preferred.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to safely administer medications and perform nursing procedures.
• Ability to accurately document patient/individual information and maintain medical records.
• Strong observation, communication, and clinical judgment skills.
